New Restaurants for Columbia Heights
The Express has a good article about the new restaurants coming to Columbia Heights as a part of the DC USA development. Honestly, I’m a bit envious that they (i.e., Columbia Heights) have a Potbelly Sandwich Works. Don’t ever let me hear they get a Chipotle! That would be like rubbing salt in the wounds. I know U Street is full of “unique” spots and all, but a Chipotle somewhere in the corridor couldn’t hurt…

I admit I had a fleeting moment of CoHe envy when I dashed into Pete’s Apizza for a couple of slices after some manly hunting and gathering at Target last weekend.
But Chipotle? I love Chipotle but it would be too dangerous for my waistline to have one too close!! Keep it in Dupont!

Seriously? Don’t you think DC has enough chains? It seems like there is a Pot Belly on every corner. I’d rather see a good local sandwich place than the same ol’ chains they have all over the city. Same goes for Chipotle. In an area with such diversity and a high population of Latinos you’d think they could find something better than the McDonalds of burritos. Actually, there are a handful of great local joints in the 1400 block of Park Rd. If you want to try some real Salvadorian food, check them out. Some of the best pupusas and empanadas in town.

Really of all the fast food joints I rarely go to (b/c I generally cook), I favor Chipotle. Guys, I do very much need to go to a more “authentic” place for a “real” burrito, I’m know. As for Potbelly, I’m just reminiscing over my days of working in Crystal City, where there was a Potbelly AND a Chipotle, and it was friendly to my budget. I will try some authentic food, and I guess Julia’s Empanadas doesn’t count. I think U Street could use just one more decent “chain” joint…why not? They can take the McDonald’s. But, since CoHe seems to be chain city already, they might want to still make room for the unique places it was known to have.
Thanks for the comments! I probably should keep this last bit to myself, but if you ever saw me, you’d probably want to force feed me Chipotle b/c I am very ectomorphic, can’t keep a pound on this body.
