Strange Lawn Art in Strange Lot–"Art Hurts"!
I have been looking at this strange piece of art that suddenly appeared a not too long ago in this lot that is popular with the homeless just off U Street, on 10th Street NW, behind the Chinese carry-out, next to the green Bratton Realty house. It looks like some Col. Sanders type thing. I wish I had taken a picture of it before it got BROKEN, but I didn’t want the residents of the lot to get paranoid.
Anyway, the body of this mini statue became separated from its feet, and the base of the statue reads “Art Hurts”…indeed it must! I was disappointed to see something so odd and quirky break, but with all the cars that park there, it was bound to happen. I hope to see more interesting, creative forms of lawn expression in the U Street Corridor in the future (trash does not count!). Anyone else appreciate this art?
